September 2007: In Iceland 90 percent of the men stay at home for at least three months after their child has been born. This is due to a law reform that allows parents to stay at home for nine months gaining 80 percent of their former income, but on the condition that the parents share this time. As a result of this law the birthrate in Iceland is growing since years: statistically seen each woman has 2.1 children.
