December 2007: In September the Icelandic unemployment rate figured out at 0.8 %. This was the lowest level since 19 years. Only 1336 persons were registered at the Labour Exchange. A lot of companies have now difficulties to get the workers they need. Some try to recruit retired people and others are looking for working immigrants from the new EU states such as Poland and Lithuania.
